View of a deep blue vase with sunflowers, built from pastel chalk and acrylic paint. It was quite exhilarating to work in this way; there were similarities to painting with watercolor — transparency is possible in its own way — as well as yummy differences, like the ability to place all the colors of the golden petals down in one delicious stroke that held a multitude of shades pulled at once from the palette.
